It seems that the one thing that I hear over and over is that it is a good thing that I had triplets, since I seem to have the personality to be able to deal with them - meaning better me than them! I am no different than anyone else, in most ways. I think that the one thing that I may do differently is I pick my Battles. Let me give you a few examples:
For Easter we bought Harper a new pair of little pink plastic sandals. Due to lack of space in their Easter basket, we gave them to her a day early. She has worn those shoes every day since then, no matter what she is wearing. A purple polo shirt dress- pink plastic sandals. A pair of jean shorts and a bright orange shirt- those pink plastic sandals. A nice church dress- yup, you guessed it- pink plastic sandals. Do I stress? HELL NO. In the grand long term scheme of life does it matter what she wears on her feet? Nope- so it is all good.
Jack and Paul love purses. They fight over the four purses that are in their play bin. Do I worry about the fact that my sons are playing with purses? Nope- it keeps them happy and quiet, which is music to my ears!
Pauley one day threw a lay on the floor and scream in octaves never heard by human ears temper tantrym. Why? Haper had a ponytail and he wanted one. What did I do? I put a ponytail in his hair and loaded him into the car to go to church. (One of the nursery workers complimented me on how great it looked-- it was pretty spectacular, Pauley has one of those He should be muscle of the Mob faces) Did I stess about my son having a ponytail? No siree Bob!!! I put that sucker in and kept right on a'going!
So please, if you take nothing else from all of my ramblings, please try to relax and just go with the flow. The only battles worth fighting are the ones that will matter when you look back on them in 5 years.
Please join us for the next big leap on our path of life~
